Winter & Spring Trainings, HennAstrology, & Essential Oils Class

Vacation followed by a very wintry week led me deep into my practices and planning. It's been a luxury not to lose power, yet I've also been creating off line and tapping into animal messages with my medicine and druid decks.  Animal messages are on my instagram.

Essential oils are part of the routine in this household, and during waning Moon I've been diffusing Siberian Fir, Lavender, and Aromatouch. Come to Willard Beach Studio to explore essential oils and the lunar phases. Become more intuitive and acquainted with both the properties of the oils and ways you can use them as the Moon travels the signs each month. Breathing and diffusing are just two ways to use your oils to complement your moods and help engage or unwind as needed.

Restorative Yoga? Why?

The yoga world often seems to be divided in two parts-those who flow or do heated yoga like the classic 26 postures and those who lean into yin, restorative and meditation. I hear people confuse Restorative and Yin yoga all the time, and it's one of the questions I answer the most. What's the difference between restorative and yin? Isn't yin a restorative practice?

Not really. Yin is deep stretches held for minutes to influence the connective tissues of the body-fascia, ligaments, tendons. Restorative Yoga also offers long held postures, but without the deep stretch. In restorative practice, you are much more focused on allowing the mind to rest and body to be calm. Often the head and heart are at the same level or the head is lower than the heart.
Yin yoga's focus is increased flexibility, range of motion, and fascial release. Restorative yoga's aim is relaxation of the body and mind by using the body and breath as tools for rewiring thought patterns.

Snow Day Yoga

Snow day yoga! These short sequences will energize you if you're sitting on the couch or laying in bed all day.
Also, postures that can help if you're feeling anxious or get home from a snowy drive and need to unwind.

To raise your energy take deep, balanced inhales and exhales.
For calming and soothing, make your exhales longer than your inhales.

I collected pictures from here and there so they don't match, but you get the idea.

Happy snow day from DC to Maine and everywhere else experiencing this wild March storm.
